The Saint of Steel series by T. kingfisher currently comprises of 4 books (hopefully helping to make up what will be 7!) each following a different (middle-aged!) paladin after their God has died and tells us how their lives continue after what feels like their purpose has been stripped from them. It all sounds very depressing - however these cosy, low stakes reads provide the perfect magical escapism! Complete with a touch of medieval magic, paladins, perfumers, whimsical side characters, and courtly intrigue. Great for providing a slice of "romantasy" without the time investment that some other series of the genre entail.
Wrapped in brand new charming illustrated paperback book covers, these books by T. Kingfisher (real name Ursula Vernon) form part of The World of the White Rat series of books. Although each title tells the story of a different paladin in the group, each book has links with the others, whether it's characters popping up, or events being discussed. (There are other books in the series, but Paladin/Saint of Steel books can be read as standalone!)
