Settling Into Spooky Season! Cosy Book Club & Seasonal Products!

Hello!

I had a few jobs on the docket to do this weekend, but we've had a busy week - so naturally when Saturday came around, I felt mentally exhausted (why does it still feel warm?!) So what did I do? I automatically hit the reset button and decluttered our whole house (again!) Perhaps I had a need for control...

After the positive procrastination (as I like to call it!) I decided that this weekend was a write off - much to the annoyance of my usual Type A attitude of being goal-orientated and feeling like I've failed if I haven't hit the ridiculous targets I've set for myself.

But guess what? At approximately 3pm on Sunday afternoon, I had a sudden burst of energy and inspiration, and used it to get my little jobs (and then some!) done. I think because I gave myself the permission to have a weekend off (thankfully before Sunday night, or else it wouldn't have felt like a weekend off at all...) or maybe it was the fact that I was trying to prove to myself I was useful and could get things done -  either way, we achieved, and some things didn't even take that long!

All this to say, that perhaps we need to not be so hard on ourselves, and maybe even mirror the season we're in, you never know - the outcome might even be better than what you had planned. (and perhaps also, that done is better than perfect!)

Speaking of trying to chill out more - are you after a book recommendation that's a little dark but not quite Halloween? Nettle and Bone (another T Kingfisher read, following on from our dive into the Paladin series!) is a quick adventure story following an unlikely band of misfits on a quest. Described as a "dark fairy tale", this story follows Marra, who is on a mission to save her sister the Queen from her abusive husband - it all sounds very grim! However this story is full of hope and humour, and when the band of misfits includes a dust-wife (an elderly witch!); a dog made of purely bones; a fairy godmother and a knight, you know it's worth a read!
